We are delighted to welcome Bill Schectman as our new Head Coach. Coach Bill Schectman has been coaching swimming for 34 years including 26 years with the Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club (RMSC). Bill’s experience includes summer swimming with MCSL and Country Club League teams, YMCA swimming, MCPS high school swimming (including Northwest High School, his current high school team), and elite-level club swimming. Bill has coached swimmers at every age and ability level, from preschool through adult. He founded the Rockville Masters’ swimming program and also established the Partnership swimming program for the Special Olympics. Bill’s swimmers have achieved success at every level. He has coached many club swimmers to USA Swimming Junior and Senior National-level competition including a FINA World Championships competitor. With decades of success coaching promising athletes, BIll looks forward to coaching many more talented swimmers with the SBP Dolphins.
Carson Taylor is a certified lifeguard and an accomplished swimmer. A Dolphins graduate, former member of the Machine Aquatics club, and a founding member of the Washington Christian Academy high school swim team, Carson was a Dolphins standout during his nine-year Dolphins career. As a Dolphin, Carson was a Swimmer of the Year with many Divisionals and All-Stars appearances. Carson attends Washington College, where he swims for the College's swim and dive team. 2022 will be his third season with the coaching staff.
Camille is the youngest of the four swimming Bearmans. She is a certified lifeguard and began swimming with the SBP Dolphins at age 4. Camille has been an All-Star and Divisionals swimmer. In 2020, Camille and her family relocated from SBP to Wayland, Massachusetts; and Camille remains active in aquatics--she swims for a local team, and works as a lifeguard for a community pool. 2022 will be her third year as a coach.
Ian Virga began his Dolphins career in 2009. He is a certified lifeguard and has made many Divisionals and All-Stars appearances, and is a repeat high-points trophy winner. Ian is a year-round swimmer with RMSC. He also swam for the Kennedy High School Cavaliers. Ian is a 2021 Kennedy graduate who is returning for his second season as a Dolphins coach.
We are delighted to welcome several new Developmental Coaches this year. Asa Virga, Sarah Siegle, Tessa Miller, Wyatt Kent, and Evan Pak are all long-time Dolphins swimmers with many Divisionals and All-Stars appearances. All are certified lifeguards and multi-sport athletes. Asa, Tessa, and Evan also swim for their high school teams. As swimmer-coaches, they will be an integral part of the team's leadership in and out of the water.
