Lil' Dolphins 2022
Lil Dolphins practice will not begin until AFTER SCHOOL IS OUT. Our little swimmers tend to be reluctant to enter the water when it’s still cold, so we’ll give the pool time to warm up. 8Us in the Novice group WILL begin practice on June 1 with the rest of the team. Not sure which group your young swimmer belongs with? Bring them on June 1, and the coaches will evaluate them to see if they’re ready for the big lane. If you know that your child cannot swim at all, then you can assume that they won’t be ready for the Novice practice, and you can just bring them when morning practice begins on June 20. If you know that your child can swim the ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE POOL UNAIDED, then they’re ready for the Novices and can begin attending practice on June 1.
Lil' Dolphins Pre-Team
The Lil’ Dolphins is the SBP Dolphins pre-team, where young children ages 3 and up can learn water safety and acquire the basic swimming skills that will prepare them to become full-fledged members of the swim team! The Lil’ Dolphins group is open to children ages 3 to 7. The children will work directly with Dolphins coaches, taking group lessons based on a curriculum designed to prepare them to compete with the team.
CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED, and the team reserves the right to close registration when we reach the maximum class size. Children must be:
- At least three years old as of May 31 of the current year
- Willing to work directly with coaches without parent assistance*
- Residents of the Strathmore Bel Pre Community
Tuition is the same as team registration fees. Children who successfully complete the full program and who can demonstrate mastery of appropriate skills, including the ability to swim the entire length of the pool unaided, will transition from the Lil’ Dolphins to the Dolphins.
*Children who are unable or unwilling to work directly with a coach in a group setting may not be ready for the Lil’ Dolphins. The Dolphins coaching staff will evaluate each child’s readiness for the program. Refunds will be available on a case-by-case basis, as necessary.
